LIVE-IN DOMESTIC HELPER – ORCHARD, SINGAPORE

Please note: Some applicants have asked why this position has remained open. I have spent much of the past two months travelling internationally and have only recently returned from a month overseas. My schedule is now considerably less hectic, and I am actively interviewing with the intention of appointing the right long-term candidate soon.

I would appreciate applicants answering the questions listed below. This helps me understand your experience, confirms that you have read and understood the role requirements, and demonstrates your ability to follow instructions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

I am a professional British female, divorced, based in Singapore and am seeking a trustworthy, experienced, and highly organised live-in domestic helper to support the smooth running of my modern condominium home in Orchard.

The ideal candidate will possess integrity, professionalism, initiative, and a genuine sense of pride in maintaining a well-managed and comfortable household. You should be self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently without constant supervision.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Strong spoken and written English.

• Excellent cooking skills across a variety of cuisines.

• Experience with weekly meal planning, grocery shopping, food preparation, and kitchen management.

• Ability to confidently prepare a weekly meal planner to include healthy Asian and Western meals independently. Evening meals are generally Asian: rice, meat +2veg, + Chinese soup, so the meal planner must reflect this accordingly.

• Strong pantry management and organisational skills.

• Exceptional housekeeping standards with attention to cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation.

• Ability to maintain structured daily routines.

• Proactive mindset, sound judgement, and strong work ethic.

• Commitment to maintaining a calm, organised, discreet, and efficiently run home.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily preparation of lunch and dinner.

• Weekly meal planning and grocery shopping.

• Kitchen and pantry management.

• General housekeeping, laundry, ironing, and wardrobe organisation.

• Maintaining a tidy, organised, and clutter-free home.

• Occasional assistance when welcoming guests or hosting small gatherings.

ABOUT THE HOUSEHOLD

I value discretion, reliability, professionalism, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility.

There are currently no children or pets in the household, although a small pet may be introduced in the future.

The successful candidate will be provided with a private bedroom and private bathroom.

Please note that housekeeping expectations are aligned more closely with luxury hotel or executive household standards than basic domestic cleaning. Applicants should therefore be comfortable maintaining consistently high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and organisation.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Start Date: As soon as possible

• Day Off: Every Sunday

• Home Leave: Two weeks upon completion of each two-year contract

• Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience
