North American Trade Schools is looking for a Home Renovation / Construction Instructor to join our team. Position Summary:

The Instructor is responsible for modeling the behavior that will allow each student to fulfill their academic potential through mentoring, planning, organizing and implementing a structured approach to learning, while following a prescribed curriculum in line with the institutions core values.


Essential Functions

  • Deliver the curriculum through lecture presentations (virtually and in person)
  • Use Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and Learning Management Software (LMS) as required
  • Take daily attendance & follow up to ensure retention goals are met
  • Record and submit grades to the appropriate personnel/software in a timely manner
  • Be available for student support which is held outside of class times
  • Participate in new student orientations as required
  • Attend all required faculty/staff meetings and graduation ceremonies
  • Stay current on industry trends and maintain certification or licensure in the related field
  • Exhibit professional and model behavior while at the campus or representing the school in the community
  • Work with Career Services to ensure students are progressing as planned and ready for employment
  • Treat all staff and students equally with respect free from bias or discrimination
  • Create and maintain an organized lesson plan and work area
  • Manage conflict between students through behavioral observation and early intervention
  • Keep students and academic services up to date by introducing new content, news, and updates
  • Conduct employer visits, field trips and guest speakers
  • Work with students that may require accommodations
  • Continue professional development within the industry you are instructing
  • Other duties as requested by the Campus manager


Position Requirements:

  • 48 months of work or teaching experience in the vocation, acquired within the preceding 10 years, or a combination of the two. OR 24 months of work or teaching experience in the vocation, acquired within the preceding 10 years, or a combination of the two and one of the following:
  • Hold a Bachelor Degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree
  • A graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent
  • A graduate of a registered PCC or equivalent
  • Hold a Certificate of Qualification under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act,2009 or equivalent.

All instructors are required to provide two letters of reference from individuals of no relation verifying the work/teaching experience in the discipline of which you are applying.

Must be proficient with computers and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office. Experience with Learning Management Systems is an asset. Adult education training and experience with Private Career Colleges is preferred however not essential. We are looking for individuals that have relevant experience and which to transfer that knowledge to others.
