<div style="text-align: center"><strong><img class="fr-fic fr-dib" src="https://secure.neogov.com/images/AgencyImages/jobposting/1283/jobpostings/image/FCC_City_TAG_4C.jpg" style="width: 300px" alt="THIS IS AN INTERNAL POSTING OPEN TO EMPLOYEES WHOSE CURRENT CITY OF FAYETTEVILLE EMPLOYMENT STATUS IS REGULAR FULL-TIME, REGULAR PART-TIME, TEMPORARY OR EMPLOYMENT AGENCY ASSOCIATE."></strong></div><div style="text-align: center"><br></div><div style="text-align: center"><a href="https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnEsGtWRvuesPrbFkt5N8g4vDJt9OjzyS&si=tZuLSdCNkvblljmM" target="_blank" style="color: inherit; text-decoration: underline; font-style: normal; text-align: center; text-indent: 0"><span style="text-decoration: underline !important; color: rgba(38, 122, 144, 1)">Click here</span></a> <span style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-align: center; text-indent: 0">to meet some of the City’s “CAN DO” employees.</span></div><br><div style="text-align: center"><strong>INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL <u>NOT</u> BE PROCESSED.<br><br>A RESUME WILL <u>NOT</u> BE CONSIDERED IN DETERMINING YOUR QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION. </strong></div><br>The City of Fayetteville's Transit Department is currently recruiting for a Maintenance Worker to perform semi-skilled and skilled work in maintenance, repair, custodial and related activities pertaining to transit, to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.<ol><li>Clean, maintain, and repair equipment, roads, alleyways, right-of-ways, streets, open spaces, City cemeteries, parking lots, curbs, sidewalks, and other City facilities.</li><li>Perform street construction and maintenance activities; dig and maintain ditches; backfill trenches and holes; install storm drainage pipes; participate in curb and sidewalk projects; repair and replace brick pavers.</li><li>Perform grounds maintenance activities including the mowing of lawns, routine landscaping, and haul debris and trash.</li><li>Prepare ball fields for use; participate in playground installation and maintenance; repair and maintain landscape areas in and around work sites.</li><li>Perform janitorial functions and similar duties in assigned area; load and unload trucks.</li><li>Set up and take down construction site signage and barricades for traffic control; follow safety regulations.</li><li>Participate in activities required during seasonal weather events.</li><li>Operate and maintain a variety of construction and street maintenance equipment; gardening equipment; and a variety of hand tools; ensure security of equipment.</li><li>Maintain garbage, yard waste and recycling carts; collect recyclable material; build, deliver, and collect carts from City facilities, residents and other locations as needed.</li><li>Operate pressure washer and battery operated street sweeper; pick up and deliver vehicles and parts; perform minor repairs to furniture and fixtures.</li></ol><br><strong>For a complete job description, <a href="https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/fayetteville/classspecs/1241729" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">click here</a>.</strong>Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:<br><br><u>Experience:</u><br>Six months of experience performing field maintenance work within the assigned area of work.<br><br><u>Training:</u><br>Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.<br><br><strong>LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS:</strong><br><br><u>Required</u>:  <br>Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.<br><br><u>Preferred</u>:<br>Forklift certification; Biohazard certification; Small Equipment training completion.<br><br><strong>From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks.
