Announcement:

First Baptist Church of Paola (FBCP) is seeking a part-time Youth Ministry Leader to join its staff team. The Youth Ministry Leader will provide leadership for the youth group ministry and be a servant leader and role model for the youth. Our vision is to prayerfully find the successful candidate who will love the youth, encourage them, provide them with opportunities for nurture and growth, and challenge them to respond to God's call on their life.

First Baptist is a congregation with an average Sunday worship attendance of 80- 100 persons who reflect the community and surrounding area. The church is a family of believers who prioritize the teaching of the Bible to help individuals grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ. The church also desires to develop its youth program and to reach out to the community. The church is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches of the Central Region and the American Baptist Churches – USA.

Primary Responsibilities:

In building and sustaining a healthy, balanced and spiritual youth program, primary responsibilities will be to:

· Teach the youth,

· Coordinate and implement youth activities and events

· Connect with, develop and mentor the youth.

· Communicate regularly with the youth and parents as appropriate.

Time Commitment:

The position calls for an average of 15 hours per week and the total number of hours will vary depending on the activities planned. Typically, the 15 hours have been split between Wednesday evenings (3 hours), Sunday mornings (3 hours), Special events (3+ hours) and preparation/meeting time (2+ hours).

Provisions:

· Salary commensurate with experience

· A mentoring arrangement with the Senior Pastor

· Administrative support from the Office Assistant at FBCP

· A youth ministry office at the church

· A budget to support youth activities and some expenses

· An opportunity to grow professionally and personally.

Reporting Relationship:

The Youth Ministry Leader reports directly to the Senior Pastor.

Qualifications – Required:

The successful candidate will

· Have a growing and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ

· Pass a background check

· Be able to relate with and build relationships with youth and adults

· Be reliable, trustworthy and prompt,

· Have excellent organizational skills and be able to complete tasks on time,

· Have good communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff and church members,

Qualifications – Preferred:

Preference will be given to the candidate who:

· Is currently enrolled in or has completed a program of study at an accredited seminary in Youth Ministry, Biblical Studies, etc.

· Has experience working or volunteering in a local church setting
