Senior Engineer

Calling all originals: At Levi Strauss & Co., you can be yourself — and be part of something bigger. We're a company of people who like to forge our own path and leave the world better than we found it. Who believe that what makes us different makes us stronger. So add your voice. Make an impact. Find your fit — and your future.

As a Senior Engineer on the Consumer Profile Services team, you will play a critical technical role in building and evolving the platforms that manage consumer identity and profile data across Levi's global ecosystem. This platform sits at the core of our digital experiences—powering identity, personalization, and cross-channel engagement.

You operate at the intersection of deep engineering craft and real-world production ownership. You design, build, and scale distributed systems, while influencing architecture and setting engineering standards across teams.

System Design & Architecture
  • Lead the design and development of scalable microservices and APIs within the Consumer Profile domain
  • Define clear service boundaries, data models, and interaction patterns for distributed systems
  • Drive architectural decisions that improve system scalability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Contribute to platform evolution, including modernization and data migration initiatives
Engineering Excellence
  • Design and build high-performance Java/Spring Boot services in a cloud-native environment
  • Set the bar for engineering practices across code quality, testing strategies, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Promote best practices across automation, observability, and DevOps
  • Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and operational resilience
You Build It, You Run It
  • Own services end-to-end—from design and implementation to production operations
  • Design with failure in mind and ensure systems are resilient under real-world conditions
  • Participate in incident response and use production learnings to improve system design
  • Treat monitoring, logging, and runbooks as first-class engineering responsibilities
Platform Ownership & Collaboration
  • Own and contribute to core services (e.g., profile, orchestration, data services)
  • Partner with teams across identity, commerce, loyalty, and data domains to deliver integrated solutions
  • Work closely with Product and leadership to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions
  • Collaborate with security and privacy teams to ensure compliant architecture design
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
  • Act as a technical leader within the team—guiding design decisions and influencing architecture
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration
  • Lead by example as a hands-on engineer contributing directly to the codebase
About You
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong focus on backend systems and distributed architectures
  • Proven experience designing and building microservices-based platforms at scale
  • Strong hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native development (GCP preferred)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, and observability tooling
  • Strong understanding of data models (SQL/NoSQL) and backend system design
  • Experience leading technical initiatives or influencing engineering direction
  • Ability to operate in complex distributed systems and solve challenging technical problems
Nice to have:
  • Exposure to cloud platforms beyond GCP (e.g., AWS)
  • Experience with authentication and identity systems (OAuth, JWT, Auth0/Okta)
  • Experience with data migration, ETL pipelines, or platform modernization
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude, etc.)
Location & Work Model

This role is based in Brazil with flexibility for remote work. Candidates should be comfortable collaborating across US time zones and working within a distributed global team.
