  • Independently manage day-to-day operations, planning, prioritization, and resourcing for the commercial real estate lending team.
  • Support the execution of the strategic roadmap for the unit, aligning team priorities with broader credit, risk, financial, operational, and regulatory objectives.
  • Establish and manage KPIs, KRIs, operating routines, reporting standards, and portfolio performance expectations.
  • Partner with senior leadership on decisions that may have long-range implications for credit strategy, growth, risk appetite, and operational execution.
Drive credit strategy execution, risk management, and portfolio oversight
  • Help develop, implement, and refine credit strategy for secured commercial real estate lending.
  • Ensure lending activity is consistent with approved credit policy, risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and business objectives.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, credit quality, borrower trends, collateral performance, concentration risk, and emerging risk indicators.
  • Lead analysis and resolution of complex credit, operational, market, and servicing issues that may impact the portfolio.
  • Recommend changes to underwriting standards, credit procedures, approval workflows, loan review routines, and portfolio governance.
Own operating discipline and performance management

  • Build and maintain management reporting for production, portfolio trends, credit quality, exceptions, risk concentrations, and operational performance.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to improve scalability, efficiency, control effectiveness, and execution quality.
  • Support audit, regulatory, loan review, and internal governance activities by ensuring strong documentation, controls, and reporting practices.
  • Partner with Finance and Risk to support forecasting, loss expectations, profitability analysis, and broader portfolio strategy.
Partner cross-functionally to drive execution
  • Partner with Risk, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Servicing, Product, and other stakeholders to support consistent execution and appropriate governance.
  • Influence function-level decisions through partnership with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, and higher-level individual contributors.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to mitigate risk of operational delays, costs, resource constraints, credit issues, or servicing challenges.
  • Prepare and present updates on business performance, portfolio health, risk trends, key decisions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Escalate material credit, operational, compliance, regulatory, or servicing matters in a timely and effective manner.
Lead and develop the team
  • Lead and develop a team that may include associate managers, supervisors, credit professionals, portfolio managers, underwriters, and individual contributors.
  • Set clear expectations for performance, accountability, communication, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Coach team members to strengthen credit judgment, execution discipline, technical expertise, and business ownership.
  • Support appropriate team coverage, workload management, and continuity across the lending lifecycle.
  • Foster a culture of strong credit discipline, collaboration, ownership, risk awareness, and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to solve highly complex problems within commercial lending and credit that shape the direction of the function.
  • Strong credit judgment and ability to take calculated risks while consulting senior leadership on decisions with long-range implications.
  • Experience managing complex workflows, operating routines, resourcing, and execution across teams or business environments.
  • Strong understanding of bank credit policy, risk appetite, portfolio governance, regulatory expectations, audit readiness, and control environments.

  • Proven ability to influence senior leaders, business partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive business results.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams through growth, process improvement, modernization, or operational change.
  • Strong discipline around documentation, controls, policy adherence, governance, and consistent execution.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of related experience in commercial real estate lending, commercial credit, banking, risk management, portfolio management, or a related financial services discipline; or Master’s degree and 10+ years of related experience.

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
