Vice President (VP) of Marketing (Fully Remote)

Other Jobs To Apply

The Role We Need:

PadSplit is looking for a VP of Marketing to lead and scale our full-funnel marketing engine as we work toward growing from $50M to $500M+ in ARR. This role will primarily focus on member growth, driving acquisition, activation, and engagement while supporting host growth to ensure a healthy, balanced marketplace. We need a marketing leader who can translate ambitious growth targets into measurable results, diversify our acquisition channels, and build a scalable marketing engine that supports PadSplit's mission of solving the affordable housing crisis.

The Person We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a high-slope, hands-on marketing leader who has scaled consumer or marketplace businesses through performance marketing, data-driven decision-making, and disciplined experimentation. You have deep expertise in paid acquisition and marketing unit economics, but you also understand how organic, lifecycle, social, referral, and brand marketing work together to drive growth. You are equally comfortable setting direction, managing a team, and getting into the weeds of campaigns, dashboards, and channel performance.

Here's What You'll Be Doing Day-to-Day:

  • Full-Funnel Growth: Own the marketing strategy across awareness, consideration, engagement, and conversion, translating company growth targets into channel-level goals, budgets, forecasts, and measurable outcomes.
  • Paid Acquisition: Lead the strategy and hands-on execution of paid marketing across search, local bidding, paid social, display, video, and emerging channels, optimizing budget allocation, creative, and landing pages against CAC and payback targets.
  • Channel Diversification: Build and scale organic, SEO, content, social, referral, and brand programs that increase demand and reduce reliance on any single paid acquisition channel.
  • Lifecycle Marketing: Own email, SMS, push, and in-app marketing across the member journey, identifying conversion and engagement opportunities from lead through application, booking, move-in, and retention.
  • Growth Experimentation: Develop and execute structured marketing tests, evaluate results, scale successful programs, and quickly stop campaigns and tactics that are not delivering.
  • Performance Analytics: Own marketing KPIs, including funnel conversion, CAC, LTV, payback, channel mix, and organic growth, partnering with Data, Product, and Finance to improve measurement and capital allocation.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and scale a multidisciplinary marketing team, establishing clear priorities, accountability, and an operating rhythm that balances execution speed with quality.
  • Cross-Functional Growth: Partner with Product, Operations, Sales, Supply, and Member/Host Success to align marketing strategy with marketplace needs, improve customer experiences, and support both member and host growth.

Here's What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • Marketing Leadership: 10+ years of consumer or marketplace marketing experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role owning a multi-channel marketing function and its results.
  • Paid Acquisition Expertise: Demonstrated experience scaling paid acquisition across diversified channels, including search, local bidding, paid social, display, video, and affiliate, with direct ownership of a multi-million-dollar budget and CAC and payback targets.
  • Marketplace Experience: Experience marketing a two-sided marketplace, consumer subscription, or transaction-based business where demand and supply must grow together. Experience in housing, rentals, real estate, e-commerce marketplaces, or travel-based intent search is particularly valuable.
  • Growth Scaling: A track record of helping a company navigate a significant growth phase, with the ability to explain how the marketing engine, channel mix, and operating model evolved as the business scaled.
  • Data & Analytics: Strong fluency in attribution, incrementality testing, marginal CAC, LTV, payback, forecasting, and channel-level business cases. Ability to make informed decisions based on evidence while clearly identifying assumptions and risks.
  • Hands-On Execution: Experience working directly in marketing campaigns, ad platforms, creative testing, landing-page optimization, analytics, and reporting. Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with tactical execution.
  • Team Development: Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary marketing teams spanning paid, organic/content, social, lifecycle, and brand, including hiring and developing leaders as the organization grows.
  • Growth Mindset: A builder-operator mentality, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, comfort with AI tools and marketing technology, and a genuine commitment to PadSplit's mission of helping more people find a comfortable place to call home.

The Interview Process:

  • Your application will be reviewed for possible next steps by the Hiring Manager.
  • If you meet eligibility requirements, the next step would be a phone call with a member of the PeopleOps team for about thirty (30) minutes.
  • If warranted, the next step would be a video interview with our Chief Growth Officer for one (1) hour.
  • If warranted, the next step would be a video panel interview with members of our leadership team for one (1) hour.
  • The panel interview will require a candidate to work on an assessment where you will showcase your market launch skills to the panel for discussion.
  • If warranted, the final interview would be with our CEO.
  • If warranted, then we move to offer!

Compensation, Benefits, and Perks:

  • Fully remote position - we swear!
  • Competitive compensation package including an equity incentive plan and company-wide bonus opportunity
  • National medical, dental, and vision healthcare plans
  • Company provided life insurance policy
  • Optional accidental insurances, FSA, and DCFSA benefits
  • Unlimited paid-time (PTO) policy with eleven (11) company-observed holidays
  • 401(k) plan
  • Twelve (12) weeks of paid time off for both birth and non-birth parents
  • The opportunity to do what you love at a company that is at the forefront of solving the affordable housing crisis

Common Interview Questions And Answers

1. HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

This is what this question poses: When do you focus and start working seriously? What are the hours you work optimally? Are you a night owl? A morning bird? Remote teams can be made up of people working on different shifts and around the world, so you won't necessarily be stuck in the 9-5 schedule if it's not for you...

2. HOW DO YOU USE THE DIFFERENT COMMUNICATION TOOLS IN DIFFERENT SITUATIONS?

When you're working on a remote team, there's no way to chat in the hallway between meetings or catch up on the latest project during an office carpool. Therefore, virtual communication will be absolutely essential to get your work done...

3. WHAT IS "WORKING REMOTE" REALLY FOR YOU?

Many people want to work remotely because of the flexibility it allows. You can work anywhere and at any time of the day...

4. WHAT DO YOU NEED IN YOUR PHYSICAL WORKSPACE TO SUCCEED IN YOUR WORK?

With this question, companies are looking to see what equipment they may need to provide you with and to verify how aware you are of what remote working could mean for you physically and logistically...

5. HOW DO YOU PROCESS INFORMATION?

Several years ago, I was working in a team to plan a big event. My supervisor made us all work as a team before the big day. One of our activities has been to find out how each of us processes information...

6. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE CALENDAR AND THE PROGRAM? WHICH APPLICATIONS / SYSTEM DO YOU USE?

Or you may receive even more specific questions, such as: What's on your calendar? Do you plan blocks of time to do certain types of work? Do you have an open calendar that everyone can see?...

7. HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE FILES, LINKS, AND TABS ON YOUR COMPUTER?

Just like your schedule, how you track files and other information is very important. After all, everything is digital!...

8. HOW TO PRIORITIZE WORK?

The day I watched Marie Forleo's film separating the important from the urgent, my life changed. Not all remote jobs start fast, but most of them are...

9. HOW DO YOU PREPARE FOR A MEETING AND PREPARE A MEETING? WHAT DO YOU SEE HAPPENING DURING THE MEETING?

Just as communication is essential when working remotely, so is organization. Because you won't have those opportunities in the elevator or a casual conversation in the lunchroom, you should take advantage of the little time you have in a video or phone conference...

10. HOW DO YOU USE TECHNOLOGY ON A DAILY BASIS, IN YOUR WORK AND FOR YOUR PLEASURE?

This is a great question because it shows your comfort level with technology, which is very important for a remote worker because you will be working with technology over time...
